To survive, you must keep some spice in your life. Start with some nice Zinfandel and throwing a pot of chili or paste in the pan. It will keep you in the days of the darkening of the winter.
There are two affordable Zinfandels to take into account:
2009 Ravenswood Zinfandel old vine Vintners Blend (sale suggested $10;) ( available on the market of $ $7-13) this very good QPK Zinfandel has good cherry and blackberry aromas. You will find the same aromas of fruit, with a spicy, smoke-filled aftertaste. The wine has the fine, giving the feeling that is the result of advance, but not too jammy of tannins.
2010 McManis family vineyards Zinfandel (suggested sale $11.99;) ( available on the market of $ $9-14) Pure taste and light on its feet, it is all about raspberries in aromas and flavours. There are nice spicy notes and pepper in the aftertaste, too. 13.5% ABV, this is not a monster of a wine, but a beautiful reminder of how the Zinfandel can be elegant. Queens Park Rangers excellent for about $12.
Full disclosure: I received samples of these wines for their possible revision.
